Dear Editor,
During the month of August, the Nederland Community Presbyterian Church is once again coordinating the Love Your Neighbor Cereal Drive to benefit the Nederland Food Pantry.
Members of the community are invited to donate boxes of nutritious cereal at collection sites including The Market at Nederland (formerly B&F Mountain Market), the Nederland Community Library, the Nederland Community Center and on Sundays at Nederland Community Presbyterian Church with worship at 10 a.m.
Donations may also be brought to the Community-Wide Church Service in Chipeta Park on Sunday, August 10 at 10 a.m., co-hosted by Calvary Chapel, Nederland Community Presbyterian Church and St. Rita Catholic Church.
Last year 159 boxes of cereal were collected during the drive, with all of it donated to the Nederland Food Pantry to provide nutritious meals for local residents in need.
"Thank you to everyone who continues to support us with the cereal drive,” said Betty Abel, Nederland Food Pantry Executive Director. “Last year, you helped us fill the back of our pantry van with so much cereal, and it was such a great sight! Not only does it help us save on our food purchases, but it also provides quick and healthy meal options for both kids and adults in our community. We cannot thank you enough for your support in making sure everyone in our community has enough to eat."
Nederland Community Presbyterian Church Missions Elder Paula Gipp added, “Providing good nutrition is of paramount importance to the health of neighbors, especially children whose brains are still developing. I encourage everyone to donate one or more boxes of cereal to our Love Your Neighbor drive in August. You will be making a positive difference in our community.”
