Lorenz to run in upcoming election

Posted

Letter to the citizens of Gilpin County,

It has truly been an honor and a privilege to serve as your Gilpin County Treasurer & Public Trustee for the past seven years.

I have taken this position – and the trust placed in me very seriously. I believe I inherited a very well-run office from the previous Treasurer & Public Trustee, Alynn Huffman, and over the seven years I have implemented a few meaningful improvements while maintaining the high standards already in place.

I am announcing my intention to continue serving as your Treasurer & Public Trustee for another four year term, through 2030. I have officially submitted my candidacy to the Secretary of State’s office.

In this upcoming election, I will be running as an Independent rather than as a Republican. The Treasurer and Public Trustee offices operate under Colorado State Statutes, and party affiliation does not affect how the office is run.

Due to increasing negative actions occurring within and between political parties, I felt it was no longer appropriate for me to be associated with either party. My beliefs, values and work ethic remain exactly the same. I continue to believe that strong customer service and accountability are essential to the successful operation of this office. If I am elected – nothing will change.

Beginning in May, I will start the process of petitioning onto the November ballot.  If I see you outside the courthouse, I may ask for your support, and I would truly appreciate it.

If you have questions or want to talk, you can reach me at 303-570-0772 or ML62559@msn.com.
