Looking ahead

BLACK HAWK — Tonight, I sit by the window listening to the thunder, watching a few raindrops fall, hoping it comes in heavier and brings the much needed moisture our region is desperate for. The last few days we have been fortunate to get 15 or 20 minutes of rain each day, which my veggies really LOVE!

My week was incredibly busy, but the busiest days were Friday and Saturday.

Friday, our Visitor’s Guide arrived. Four of us unloaded 25,000 copies of this guide in 54 minutes. That’s 278 boxes, weighing in at 8,436 pounds. Some went into staff cars, some went into storage in our office, and some were distributed the same day.

Between Friday and Saturday, we delivered over 2,000 copies from Lyons to Central City, with all of the communities and canyon in between. Friday was a good day. Super huge thanks to Asher, David, and Kaia for working so hard, in the 95° heat. You rock!

This past weekend I also had the opportunity to participate in the Gilpin Farmer’s Market, held at Very Nice Brewing Company. There were over a dozen vendors. I came home with several bags of produce, some delicious meats, a salve and a few other products. All while sipping a tasty beer. I even sold a subscription and handed out a Mountain-Ear t-shirt. Saturday was a good day.

Sunday I went into town early and loaded up a bunch of recycling from the office. I had a lot of recycling already in the car, which was my motivation. I unloaded all of our market stuff and headed to the Green Boxes. It didn’t take long to unload all of it. After that, I enjoyed a delicious brunch with family and friends at Hotel Columbia. And then a bit of down time by a creek.

On the way home I stopped at Kitchen at The Vault and had a margarita. Oh yeah—their liquor license came through and they are now serving alcoholic beverages. All in all, Sunday was a very good day.

Today, I’ve been working on billing, Studio Tour, and spent a little bit of time working on my other job. I have a lot of emails to catch up before Wednesday snd several already-scheduled meetings tomorrow. Life is incredibly busy this month.
