A few weeks back, local musicians Brune Macary, violin; Christine Mallery, cello; and Kajsa Teitelbaum, piano, offered a concert at the Community Presbyterian Church in Nederland. The purpose was to raise funds for Ukraine, and at the end of the evening, over $850 had been collected.
The trio is now planning another concert but plans to split any funds raised between the NCPC congregation and the Nederland Food Pantry. The concert is scheduled for Friday, July 8, at 7 p.m., and will be at the Nederland Community Presbyterian Church, 210 N. Jefferson Street in Nederland. The theme for the evening is “Dances from Around the World,” which the performers hope will spark some curiosity from the community.
Teitelbaum, who initiated the first concert, says “The goal with these concerts is really to offer a different musical experience to the community, an opportunity to hear classical music in our neighborhood, and not have to drive to Boulder or Denver and pay for expensive tickets. All while also benefiting the community by donating to local non-profit organizations. It is our way of giving back to this awesome community that we live and work in.”
The trio hopes that the community will join them on July 8 for an evening of classical music in an intimate setting.
