Sara Van Valkenburgh, Peak to Peak. On May 16, 2020, the bluegrass/Americana group Pioneer Mother will live stream a performance from the historic Gold Hill Inn. The performance starts at 7 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m.
Pioneer Mother has been venturing beyond their hometown of Nederland, Colorado, to share their “vocal-forward American storytelling and slick-picking” at live shows and festivals for the last two years. They call their style “hippiegrass,” and it has been very well received across the western US.
April 19, 2020, marked the release of Pioneer Mother’s first single and video, Cocaine & Kisses, as well as the group’s announcement of its debut album, The Call, which is scheduled to be released in July 2020.
The band reports that their local upcoming public shows have been waylaid by the Covid-19 pandemic, but Pioneer Mother looks forward, with crossed fingers, to its second trip to the Northwest String Summit in North Plains, Oregon on July 16 - 19, 2020, where it will appear alongside national acts such as Yonder Mountain String Band, The Infamous Stringdusters, Greensky Bluegrass, Sam Bush and Leftover Salmon.
Pioneer Mother is a four-piece string band offering inspiration through their lyrics about nomadic western living and unconventional love, coupled with their skillful instrumentation on mandolin, banjo, bass and guitar. Catch their next live performance from your living room couch, on May 16.
