Lisa Karen Bernal of Nederland, Colorado, died October 14, 2022, after a long illness, surrounded by her loving family.
Born August 5, 1963, to John MacDougall and Judy Ketola MacDougall in Uranium City, Saskatchewan, Canada. Lisa is survived by her mother Judy Ketola MacDougall, sister Janet MacDougall “David Patterson”, sister Stephanie Silva, former husband Alan Bernal, daughter Josephine Bernal “Chris Casteneda”: children Antonio Bernal Quintana “Izzy”, Isaac, Vinny, daughter Tiffany Bernal, daughter Carla Bernal: children Jesse, Ariella, great-grandchild Jeremiah Quintana Rodriguez. She is preceded in death by her father John MacDougall.
Lisa’s parents moved to Eldora “The Happy Valley” in 1971 where she grew up roaming the valley with her sisters and her childhood best friend. Her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren. She loved country music. Many of her daughter’s friends considered Lisa their second mother.
Lisa had an infectious laugh and a grand sense of humor. She brought joy to everyone around her. Her life’s work was caring for people. She touched 100s of lives in doing so.
Plans for a memorial service will be announced in the future.
