Dear Editor,
This is the letter I sent to Gilpin County Commissioners as my husband and I sat in their meeting for 4 hours on Tuesday. Gilpin county residents must speak out on this issue if they want their new board to continue fighting this fight for peaceful skies. Neighboring communities that are suffering the jet noise over their homes are welcome to contact GRRifting@gmail.com and join us in this fight against the FAA’s new plan.

Dear Attorney Benning, Commissioners, Manager Montoya,
GRRift is formally hereby requesting that our Board of Commissioners pick up where they left off before Covid interrupted the plans for Stephen Dickson, Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration, to hold a meeting here in Gilpin County to listen to the concerns of Gilpin County and other Colorado residents regarding the Denver Metroplex plan instituted by the FAA to the detriment of those living with the FAA decision, and suffering the noise of the jets they are now sending over specific areas, instead of across the entire skies of the state of Colorado.
Former U.S. Senator Cory Gardner hosted Administrator Dickson and his entourage at a meeting at the State Capitol where Administrator Dickson made the comment that “nothing is chiseled in stone.” He was willing to attend a meeting here in Gilpin County. Commissioner Watson and others were in attendance.
Please get back on track with our Gilpin plan, regardless of what the DC Appellate Court decided on the Petition of several communities to stop this plan!
Our committee has had many meetings with our Commissioners, at the Rec Center with State Rep/Congressional representatives, more than 200 residents, (the majority of whom were our members) present at a Town Hall meeting in the auditorium at Gilpin School fighting this disastrous FAA Plan! We have written hundreds of letters, had representatives at two meetings at our State House with the FAA, met with DIA officials in Gilpin, interviewed by The Denver Post, Westword Magazine; three Denver television news stations interviewed us, ran the stories all the way through their affiliates. We joined the Centennial Roundtable group and went downtown to meet with them and gather vast amounts of information which led us to the Petition that was just denied by the Appellate Court.
I am saying this because we have done our due diligence, and want to continue from here, not pretend to start over!
Please make an immediate effort to get a meeting in Gilpin County for the public to be heard by Administrator Dickson, which was in process when Covid hit.
Thank you very much,
Donna Okray Parman
