Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office Deputy and School Resources Officer Lee Ramsey resigned on August 6, 2021, from the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office after 21 years of service. Sheriff Kevin Armstrong said that Lee has been an inspiration to so many residents in Gilpin County.

“The hearts he touched in the school can never be measured. He has touched and changed numerous lives as an SRO, and his 21 years of experience at the Sheriff’s Office can never be replaced.

“Lee will be greatly missed in the school, our community and the Sheriff’s Office. It was an honor to work next to Deputy Ramsey. We wish him the best life has to offer on the next journey in his life.” Armstrong said.

Ramsey joined the Gilpin County Sheriff’s team in 2000, and for the following 21 years, he served the Citizens of Gilpin County with professionalism and integrity, Armstrong said. In 2013, Ramsey accepted the position of School Resource Officer and helped to coach and guide children while increasing the feeling of safety for students and staff alike.

“You have made a difference in so many of our lives,” Armstrong said. “Thank you for putting the community that you serve above your family.

“You gave up holidays, birthdays and family gatherings.

Thank you for making the choice to protect and serve.

“Thank you for doing what so many of us aren’t brave enough to do,” Armstrong said. “Thank you for keeping us safe. It has been an honor to work with you and we wish you luck in all of your future endeavors.”
