Barbara Lawlor, Nederland. The Nederland High School girls’ volleyball team dug in their claws and decided to make a stand on their home court. Their determination paid off: The Panthers beat the Addenbrooke Classical Academy Mustangs in a 3-1 home match last Friday, Sept. 21, giving them their second win and a 2-7 record. Game scores: 25-21, 25-16, 21-25, 25-18.

Both teams came out strong, but the Ned girls prevailed, clutching the lead and not slacking, coming out on top to take the first two games. The Mustangs kicked back, reared a couple of times and pushed back to grab the third game, but no more. The Panther girls won the match 3-1 and the hometown crowd celebrate the win.
