NEDERLAND — It’s no surprise to anyone who lives in or visits the Rocky Mountains of Colorado that they are truly inspiring. Many life-changing experiences occur in the rugged terrain of the Rockies, including the development of artists as they come into the fullness of their art.
Kay O’Neil is the owner and primary artist of O’Neil Rocky Mountain Art, LLC. “I love drawing designs based on the natural surroundings of living in the beautiful mountains of Colorado!” says O’Neil.
And there’s no doubting it when visitors see her stained-glass art firsthand. Her work comes from a study of Nature.
She likes to use a lot of color and plenty of textures. Every piece is an original design, hand-drawn by O'Neil and carefully assembled one piece of glass at a time.
She also offers stained-glass classes, where students can rent her studio for $35 per hour, with personalized instruction from O'Neil herself.
Aside from teaching classes, she can be seen working on custom pieces for homeowners and people interested in ordering a stained glass piece of art made just for them or someone else.
The studio and shop offer gift items for purchase. Visiting the O’Neil Rocky Mountain Art studio is more than just seeing a display of her art plus the work of four interns. It is a breathtaking adventure as one reconnects with nature through stained glass.
