John S. Brokos Jr., 58, of Nederland, was born on February 14, 1961 in Long Island, NY and passed away on April 17, 2019. He had resided in the Nederland area for over a decade.
He is survived by his children, Daniel, Elizabeth, Stephanie and John, his siblings, Keith, Frank and Warren, and his mother, Bobby. He always went above and beyond for his family and friends and put them before himself. He was a sweet, soft-spoken man and the most supportive father anyone could ask for. He taught his family and friends the importance of hard work and perseverance, and his greatest desire was for his family to stay together. The community of Nederland had an astounding impact on him, especially over the past year. He was clearly moved by the love and support members of the community showed for him.
His favorite activities included skiing, scuba diving and restoring his classic Subaru with his sons. He always loved hosting family and friends to watch sports and to enjoy his favorite pastime--cooking holiday dinners. Some of his happiest moments were at Furthur and the Dead and Company shows, dancing and enjoying many worlds of music and family connections.
This has been so sudden, and he will be dearly missed, but his impact on family and friends will live on for eternity. Rest in Peace.
