John Friery, 85, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at his home in Central City, Colorado. He was born to Clarence M. and Consuelo (Drago) Friery and raised in Hartford, Connecticut.
After high school John joined the Air Force where he served for several years. When he rejoined civilian life he worked as a painter, he worked in Washington, DC and then moved to Colorado in the 1980s where he was primarily a property manager. John liked being outdoors with his pets. He loved dogs and cats and always had them his entire life. He lived in Denver and Boulder for many years before retiring to Central City where he enjoyed the view from his back porch and living in a small town where he knew all his neighbors.
He is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Frances and Georganna, and brothers, William, Peter, and Clarence.
A celebration of life will be at St. Mary’s of Assumption in Central City, Colorado, located at 135 Pine Street on Saturday, April 29. The rosary will be said at 12:30 p.m., followed by a Funeral Mass.
The family requests that donations be made to St. Mary’s of Assumption.
