I am Joe Marr and I am running for Gilpin County Commissioner in District #2.
I am a 25-year resident of Gilpin County. For the past 18 years I have owned and operated a successful construction & remodeling business here, Gilpin County Service. I am an active member of the Gilpin community. I became a member of the District Accountability Committee shortly after we moved here in December 1996, then School Board from 2000 to 2004, and more recently, the Gilpin County Senior Living Board for three years.
I have also volunteered my time and expertise to the Gilpin County Planning Commission Board for several years up until 2020. I am currently President of the Gilpin County RE-1 Board of Education. I am two years into my four-year term. This has been a very challenging two years but I am extremely proud of our leadership through the pandemic.
I served my first term on the Board of Education (two years as Vice President, two years as President) when our four children were attending Gilpin County Schools. My wife Mary and I were very active as parents during the time the children were enrolled. Steven (1999), Jeff (2000), Tina (2003), and Michael (2007) are all Gilpin County High School graduates. We are grandparents to 18 grandchildren and 4 of those grandchildren currently attend Gilpin County Schools.
We have surely put down roots here over time and deeply care about you citizens of this County. I believe there has been a lack of common sense and fiscal responsibility in the Commissioners’ office for several years now. I will bring those things back to our County’s leadership. I have no hidden agendas, just open, honest governance.
I am going to hold some “gettogethers” throughout this campaign so you can visit with me and understand who you are voting for. I am available to visit at 303-582-0632 or marr4gilpin@gmail.com .
A lot of you have met me or have known me over the years. I look forward to meeting all of you that I haven’t yet met.
I am responsible, honest, hardworking, loyal, and excited to be your next County Commissioner. Together we can make this little county better than it has been in a long time.
I appreciate your support,
