In Memory of Patrick Kapke

Posted

With heavy hearts, the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office begins our day without one of our beloved friends, and brother-in-arms, Investigator/Deputy Patrick Kapke. He passed away this morning from natural causes.

Our brother had a long and distinguished career with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1981-1987. His civilian Law Enforcement service extended from 1985 through today. Pat Kapke was with the Phoenix Police Department from 1985-1989.

He was a deputy with the Summit County Sheriff’s Office from 1990 to 1994 when he left to serve as a deputy with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office until 1995. Deputy Kapke joined the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office in 1995 where he served until 2006.

He then became an investigator with the Colorado Division of Gaming, and in 2016 Pat returned to Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office as a part-time deputy in the Detentions Division Court Security while maintaining his fulltime commitment to the Colorado Division of Gaming.

“We were privileged to experience the blessings of Pat’s friendship, kindness, and dedication over the years, and we grieve as one unified family at the Sheriff’s Office. Our deepest condolences, thoughts, and prayers are with his family, Undersheriff Tonia Kapke, and their daughters Samantha, Alishia, and Becky.”
