Loralyn Thomas, longtime resident of Nederland, passed away in her home on November 4, 2018, at the age of 58. She was preceded in death by her daughter Jasmine (Jazzie).
She leaves behind many friends who were like family to her. Loralyn also leaves behind her service dog Gunthrie, her loyal and constant companion, who has been willed to a wonderful new home.
Loralyn was a therapist in Denver in her younger years. She was one of the early members of Nederland’s community gardens. Loralyn previously volunteered at the mountain people’s co-op, and at one time had a small ice cream shop in Nederland, which also featured her homemade cobblers.
More recently, Loralyn was known as the founder of the non-profit “Flower Power”. One of her greatest joys was sprucing up flowers slightly passed their prime and creating beautiful bouquets to donate to seniors at Prime Haven, the Nederland Library, and Kathmandu restaurant.
She was a creatively talented soul, whose expressions included painting, flower arranging, playing guitar and flute, and leather working. Loralyn loved doing random acts of kindness. In lieu of flowers, her closest friends know that she would have appreciated a small donation to the Longmont Humane Society.
