Ernestine Burch of Jamestown, Colorado, passed away peacefully in her mountain home on May 29, 2023, after 95 years of living a full and loving life.

Ernestine was born on October 30, 1927, in the family’s home on Mapleton Street in Boulder, Colorado. She and her sisters attended Boulder High School. After high school, she married Frank Charles Burch in 1946 when he returned from serving our country during World War II in the Navy. As members of the Greatest Generation, they strived to create a loving and strong family and contribute to their community, he as a self-employed structural engineer and she as a mother and homemaker, raising their four children in the Washington Park neighborhood of Denver, Colorado.

Ernestine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank, in 2009. She is survived by her four children and one sister, Leona O’Halloran. Her children are Linda Isenhart (Wes), Sylvia Palmer, William Burch and Mary Ellen Burch. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Zachariah Smith (Leah), Isaac Palmer, Lily Vagelatos (Andrew), Eric Isenhart, Nathan Burch (Leslye), Kaitlyn Burch, Victor Smith and Michael Smith. Ernestine has three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the many people who have been a part of Ernestine and Frank’s lives, sharing memories and adventures of a lifetime. Thanks also goes to TruCare Home Health Care hospice caregivers for assisting Ernestine’s family in granting her wish to pass at home.

A private family celebration of her life will take place this summer. As Ernestine always liked to say, “This is a day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it!”
