Gilpin County School is a special place. Our family has been a part of the school since 2010 when I was hired on as a 5th grade classroom teacher.

We are continually grateful that we discovered this “hidden gem” that is Gilpin County School!

The small class sizes, Montessori option, and four-day school week are all very attractive features for our family. It makes the drive over from Clear Creek County more than worth it.

Our three children; Ellianah (12), Jasper (9), and Maliah (8), have all enjoyed their experience in preschool, elementary, and middle school, and continue to grow and thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.

My wife, Hannah, and I have worn many “hats” since we have become part of the school, which gives us somewhat of a unique perspective on the school and surrounding community. Hannah has been running the secondary drama department for the last 10 years, and I have had experience as an elementary and middle school classroom teacher, middle school track and basketball coach, and tech director for the theater department.

Although I am no longer a classroom teacher at the school, we continue to enroll our kids in Gilpin County School and continue to direct the theater department productions. Over the past 12 years we have made such great connections with the students and staff as teachers, coaches, directors, and parents.

Our own kids continue to grow, make friends, and have a positive experience year after year. The outstanding teaching staff, committed administration, and close-knit community make GCSD an easy choice for our family.

Every parent should consider attending GCSD. Thanks to the Gilpin school community for welcoming us with open arms!
