The Nederland Fire Department estimates that around six thousand people will attend Frozen Dead Guy Days (FDGD). Eldora Ski Resort will also have special events during the weekend, which means a substantial increase to the already bustling weekend traffic around Nederland.
This year’s event holds significant importance to our local businesses that were affected by the cancellation of the festival the previous two years due to COVID. Our first responders understand the value that FDGD brings to this community and are prepared to assure safety throughout the region.
Events such as this take hard work and weeks of logistic preparation from town officials. The Nederland Fire Department held special event training to all members of the team, including active harmer training. All staff firefighters are EMT certified and they will have multiple ambulances ready for patient transport.
Also present at the event will be the Nederland Police department and Colorado Rangers, who will focus on traffic control. Even with the abundance of activity, officials from the fire department would like to warn the public that we should not hesitate to call should the need arise. Maintaining safety is their priority and they appreciate our cooperation.
Thankfully, due to the hard work by our town’s first responders, we can focus on enjoying the festival knowing the trained professionals are ready to assist. Also, if you would like to see off duty firefighters having some fun, make sure to check out the Polar Plunge on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Guercio Field.
