Mommies, daddies, brothers, sisters, and friends gathered at the Gilpin County Community Center (GCCC) on Saturday, April 8, 2023, to kick off a fantastic Easter weekend. Just a little before 10 a.m., attendees began to crowd the halls and rooms of the GCCC.
Bouncy castles, arts & crafts, and the Easter bunny were all part of the excitement. Anticipation filled the air as the first egg hunt started at 10:30 a.m. for children two years of age and younger. Each child was allowed two eggs for the first round, followed by a free for all in the second.
Fifteen minutes later, three- and four-year-olds gathered in the fitness studio for two rounds of egg hunting. By 11 a.m., kids between five and seven gathered in the multipurpose room for their turn.
The last of the Easter egg hunts, for ages between 8 and 12, assembled in the gym at 11:15 a.m. for ten minutes of egg collecting. Five minutes before egg hunts began, Aquatics Coordinator Tabatha Oline shared instructions to ensure everyone participating got a fair chance of enjoying the fun.
The children entered each room and lined up against the wall. They chatted and fidgeted as they waited for the whistle to blow, indicating the moment to start egg hunting. With two rounds per egg hunt, everyone was sure to collect their fair share of eggs.
The pool egg dive began by noon. All ages were welcome to partake in the splish splash of floating and underwater egg hunting. GCCC lifeguards and staff ensured a safe and fun environment for all.
Special tickets were hidden in some of the eggs. If a child happened to pick up one of these eggs, they could pick from several small gifts at a prize table. The Easter bunny, bouncy castles, arts & crafts, and music continued throughout the event.
More than 200 guests benefited from this eventful Easter celebration. Special Events Coordinator Krystal Meyer and the GCCC always provide wonderful events for Gilpin residents and beyond, and the Easter Egg Hunt and Dive was no exception.
