The weather was strange on Easter Sunday, March 31, in Nederland. The warm sun, teasing a Spring season that has yet to truly begin, was continuously interrupted by gray clouds that brought winter chills and snow flourishes. But the weather didn’t stop the kids from getting into the thrill of the Caribou Village Shopping Center’s Easter Egg Hunt.
11 of the Shopping Center’s businesses participated in the hunt, opening up their doors to kids hunting for the Easter Bunny and the goodies that she left behind. Each business not only provided hunters with toys, candy, games, and activities, but also donated their goods and merchandise towards an Adult Easter Basket, which the parents of young hunters could win in a raffle.
Children of all ages would grab their maps from outside of Very Nice Brewing Company (VNBC) to begin the hunt. Groups of kids and families, and even a big puppy dressed for the occasion, circled the shopping center finding Easter eggs full of candy at B&F Mountain Market, getting noisemaker eggs from Brightwood Music, engaging in some arts and crafts at Wild Bear Nature Center, and viewing some beautiful artwork at Kaleidoscope Fine Arts Gallery.
The Easter Bunny could be sighted hopping around the shopping center as well, giving hugs and high-fives, posing for pictures at Train Cars Coffee & Kava, visiting the crew at Tres Gringos, riding the Carousel of Happiness, stretching at Tadasana Mountain Yoga, and doing some shopping for later at Augustina’s Winery and Dam Liquor.
Many groups finished the hunt and entered the raffle to win the Adult Easter Basket, which contained items gifted from all the stores that participated.
Congratulations go to Jeremiah, the winner of the basket that contained bottles of VNBC beer and wine from Augustina’s, gift certificates and stickers, hats from both Tadasana and the Carousel of Happiness, a harmonica from Brightwood, and much, much more.
A special thanks goes to the organizers and volunteers who put this successful family-friendly event together, and to the owners of those Caribou Village Shopping Center stores who participated and donated.
