Barbara Lawlor, Nederland. The Class of 2018 Homecoming celebration took place Saturday afternoon after the Nederland High School Homecoming Soccer Game. It was the first year that soccer was the designated Homecoming sport rather than football. There were three nominees for each of the grade courts. The winners are pictured.

Zach Weiner was the male Freshman winner; Sushan Dahal and Anders Hendrickson were the nominees; Sara Feeley was the female Freshman winner: Bella Herndon and Skylee Barry were the nominees; Hatcher Edmondson was the Sophomore winner; Parker Newby and Sam Boswell were the nominees; Meagan Figgins was the female Sophomore winner; Sydney Mayhew and Sydney Nation were the female Sophomore nominees; Hakan Chunton was the male Junior Prince; Chris Francis and Cooper Nielson were the nominees; Hadley Zotti was female Junior Princess; Lily Lindstrom and Helen Cross were the female nominees; Scout Edmondson was the male King winner; Adler Mueller and Damon Vigil were the Senior King nominees; Meg Feeley was the Senior Queen winner; Sasha Fossil and Mattea Beauty were the senior Queen Nominees.

After four years of building up loyalty and pride to the black cat that stands for Nederland High School, the Class of 2018 showed how much they care; enough to win the Panther Homecoming Spirit Award at the end of the festivities. It was not only about pom poms and games and seeing who could yell the loudest, it was also about academic achievement, with the introduction of the First Annual Blue and Gold Academic Breakfast for middle and high school students. Based on last year’s grade point average, students and parents were invited.

Students were asked to dress special each day: pajama day, favorite teacher day, America day, blue and gold day and class color day.
On Saturday, junior and varsity volleyball players competed at 9 and 10 a.m. and the boys played soccer at 11 a.m. After the game, each grade cruised through town on their float, ending up at TEENS Inc. where they enjoyed a cookout with the town and a show of school spirit.

The senior class, the Class of 2018 were the winners of the spirit week award and all students celebrated at the Homecoming Dance on Saturday night.
