Spring is here! Whether you have a deck, patio, or porch, there are things you can do to prep your indoor and outdoor living space for warmer days. If you’ve already started prepping your deck for summer enjoyment (article found in The Mountain-Ear’s April 6, 2023, edition), you’re already ahead of the game.
Another thing you can do is start cleaning your outdoor furniture cushions and making any repairs to your patio furniture. These two are simple chores and will make it more comfortable to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful Colorado scenery.
If you’re looking for a bigger project, how about sprucing up the landscape around your home? Second-hand stores are a great place to purchase affordable decor for your outdoor space. Hanging lanterns, flower pots, and a few statues can turn your private outdoors into a beautiful sanctuary.
Another common way to find goodies at a very reasonable price, and sometimes free, is by creating a social media post. You’d be surprised how many items are given away every day. Don’t have social media? Ask a friend to post for you.
You can build a flower bed around the perimeter of your home or deck simply by using the rocks on your property. It’s as easy as lining the rocks so they create a safe and sturdy border for dirt, water, and flowers. This one is easy to play with, as you can get super creative with the shapes of your rock flower beds.
While you’re outside, take a glance at your trees. Could they use some trimming? Creating defensible space is another great springtime project. So is cleaning your gutters.
With summer around the corner, it’s a good idea to start on your spring projects now, allowing you to have more time to enjoy the warmest Colorado months.
