The Alpaca Store offers products made from Alpaca Wool. Owner Roy Burkett said that Alpaca wool is four to five times warmer than sheep’s wool.

All of Alpaca’s items come from Peru, and Burkett ships his products all over the world.
He also has Ruanas, like a shawl, that have been hand designed by Walter Caamano.
The store carries slippers, jackets, rugs, blankets and scarves. His Alpaca wool hats for $25 last longer than sheep wool hats.

Claudia Schauffler, owner of The Shop, said the store offers new and used women’s and men’s clothing and jewelry. Used items can be purchased for $10 and under.
The Shop also offers the best mask selection in town costing between $8 and $14. Schauffler said she sells them at the lowest price she can afford to encourage people to wear masks.
She is looking into getting an air filtration system to help keep the air fresh in the store. As a health nurse who used to teach infection control, she said that is important for her business.
A member of the Nederland Downtown Development Authority, Schauffler said the Board is trying to supplement business expenses for air filtration systems.

Ryan Blackwell opened Boogie Records in Nederland with more than 2,000 new and used records for sale in 2019. A community college biology instructor and Nederland resident, Blackwell opened the vinyl record and turntable shop and had people in the area bringing in crates of records.
It has been a lifelong dream for Blackwell to have his own business, and this space became available. Nederland doesn’t have a good record store, Blackwell said.
Now Blackwell has been in the current location for almost two years. The store now has more than 10,000 albums, CDs and DVDs for sale. His inventory is expanding and the business has been good. The entire interior of the store has been remodeled.
This week’s new inventory from November 12, 2020, includes new vinyl from Judas Priest, Ozzy Osbourne, AC/DC, Queens of the Stone Age, Tool, Rage Against the Machine, Radiohead, Dinosaur Jr., Nirvana, Pearl Jam, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Nick Drake, The Allman Brothers Band, Janis Joplin, Queen, Fu Manchu, Guided by Voices, Superchunk, Strung Out, Sebadoh, LCD Soundsystem, and Wavves. And used vinyl from Townes Van Zandt, Tom Waits, Pink Floyd, Thee Oh Sees, Sword & Sandals
