Holiday shopping in the Peak to Peak

Posted

John and Anne Scarffe, Nederland. First Street in Nederland offers lots of shopping opportunities without driving down the canyon. The businesses require masks, use safety plexiglass in front of counters and adhere to the six feet separation regulation.

Nature’s Own

Nature’s Own, a science and nature store owned by Roy Young, features geodes, fossils, minerals, jewelry and kids’ toys, something for everyone. Nature’s Own opened in May 1986.

Nature’s Own hours are Thursday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed Monday through Wednesday. On Saturday, November 7, 2020, employees limited the number of shoppers who could be in the store at one time due to Covid regulations, so a line formed outside. It is well worth the wait, for a chance to check out the precious gifts available inside the store.

 Wings of Lace

Sara, a local shopper shares, “I love Wings of Lace! The displays are professionally done. Kimberly is very honest if she thinks an outfit works for you or not and will help you find one that looks fantastic! I leave that store feeling great about myself and the deal I have purchased. And you can’t keep your eyes off the sparkly jewelry. Everything in the store is beautiful and perfectly placed. I also love how she has some locally made products, too.”

Wings of Lace Boutique is open every day, with the exception of Tuesdays, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., offering unique and feminine mountain wear, jewelry, gifts, and other rare treasures. “Escape the world and come in for some greatly needed retail therapy,” according to the Facebook page.

Alpine Botanicals

Alpine Botanicals strives to create a collaborative and supportive space for local healers, artisans and educators in sustainability and holistic wellness, while providing a safe and nurturing place for visitors and clients. The retail apothecary is the primary component of the project.

Employee Gabriel said the store is herbalist owned and created, and employees are certified herbalists. They offer tea blends, herbal products, custom formulation, body care and health care supplements.

The store offers much more than an herbal apothecary. “We source from smaller brands and product lines from all over the Rocky Mountain west, supporting our local and bioregional economy and lending exposure to products that we love and want to share with you,” according to the website.
