Holiday Mountain Market 2025

Cheerful vibes pervade Nederland's go-to seasonal shopping event

NEDERLAND — The Nederland Community Center became the quintessential place for gift shopping, joyful entertainment, and cheerful vibes this pat weekend, as the Nederland 2025 Holiday Mountain Market swept in (along with the snow and the breeze), bringing with it over 50 vendors.

On December 6 and 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, residents would come in from the cold to be immediately welcomed by the warmth of a community of artists and crafters. With a cocoa, or perhaps a coffee in hand, attendees were invited to peruse each of the center’s main rooms, hallways, and gymnasium, to window shop the wide variety of vendors present at the market.

Morning visitors to the market could enjoy a delicious breakfast burrito from Bright Heart Catering before starting their shopping excursion, while those who came a little later in the day could treat themselves to Bright Heart’s tamales, a favorite served every year.

Only after amassing a bellyful of proper sustenance can the endurance-test that is holiday shopping truly begin. The layout of the market made it easy for shoppers to find the perfect gift, even for their most discerning friends or family members.

In the gymnasium was where one could find that wonderfully unique gift, crafted with love and care, be it beautiful beaded earrings or custom designs made out of every imaginable material. Or, if one were looking for a little pick-me-up, they could add a stroke of color to a community painting.

The hallways encircling the gymnasium were also filled with vendors, some selling homemade goods, from soaps to socks. Others proudly displayed their works made of wood, or their coffee beans, painstakingly prepared as part of their family business.

There were also many local organizations with booths selling goods for worthy causes, including the Nederland Food Pantry, the Nederland Community Library Foundation, TEENS, Inc., Nederland Area Historical Society, and the NMSHS Lady Panthers Basketball Team.

In the main meeting room was where shoppers could search for sweet treats to bring to their next holiday gathering (or to hoard away at home). From toffee or cheesecake, to cookies or loaves of jalapeño bread, it all could be found in the main room.

For those needing a short break from the market madness, Knotted Root was present with a collection of classic cold beverages, to be enjoyed in the “beer hall” while Jim McVey entertained the crowd with his piano renditions of holiday songs and other classics.

The NMSHS Loquations and Calvary Chapel Choir also performed on the market stage, and the Mountain Movers performed than annual recital on Saturday morning.

A very special thanks to Town of Nederland’s Administrative Coordinator Holly Lanthier, and to Dawn Baumhover, Manager of the Nederland Community Center, who, together with the help of Town staff and volunteers, organized and managed this year’s successful Holiday Mountain Market.

Thanks also to all the volunteers, performers, vendors, and shoppers whose infectious holiday spirit helped to make the market such a special experience.
