Dear Editor,
KENT, OHIO
50 years ago, 13 seconds, 67 bullets, 4 killed, 9 wounded …
Loss of Innocents, Loss of Life. As a witness and participant, I survived
the moment and my life changed. 50 years later, the lessons I’ve learned
are straight ahead - history repeats itself.
Feed your head … Teach your children well …
Whoopie we’re all going to die … poetry of an era.
50 years ago I believed, the times they are a changing and to let it be …
Still true, but now with a perspective that has realized, not in my life time …
as was said … I have been to the mountain top …
And thru the years, I’ve watched the changing faces, as people walk by.
I’ve followed paths thru great halls, partaking history as it was made.
That my life has had its share of Forrest Gump moments, is true.
50 years ago we tried and failed, but we did advance. When all is tallied
the balance will show the good is gaining, but it is still a long, long road to go.
Look around, pay attention, show up and be present. When it comes time
to choose, to vote, do so as if your life depended on it, because it does.
You will know them by their deeds.
Look to the history, look at what they have said and done …
look at all the trials and tribulations … 50 years ago today …
