Hire Joe Marr for Gilpin Commissioner

Dear Editor,

Last week’s questions to the candidates were enlightening. I have never read so many questions that suggested the answer for the candidate of one party while forcing candidates from the other party to answer in a way that makes them seem, well, pressured to answer to satisfy the “forum.” This is why some candidates do not participate in these events.

Most of the questions had little to do with Gilpin County and our policies. They were skewed toward a specific political party. I was waiting to read a question like “while it is not immediately obvious how much snowfall you get at your house, what is your preferred shoe color?”

Also, the questions were irrelevant. For example, “who was the legitimate winner of the 2020 presidential election?” Is there a reason why the question “Who was the legitimate winner of the 2016 presidential election?” was not asked also? I bet answers would be different. These type of questions have nothing to do with local Gilpin County leadership. I can’t believe this question was even asked.

Joe Marr is the only candidate who gave a positive statement and purposefully answered none of these questions. Most of the questions asked did not pertain to what the candidates would do if elected. Joe Marr is wise to inform his possible employers that he alone cannot accomplish governance, that he will negotiate and influence the other BOCC officials to improve the county and take care of it’s citizens. Joe Marr understands the BOCC is 3 person board of elected officials which require a majority vote on any motion to pass. He is educating his supporters on this procedure. Joe Marr will work for Gilpin citizens and not for neighboring counties.

Furthermore, Joe Marr is from the public sector and not a bureaucrat. Mr. Marr currently is the President of the Gilpin County School Board and has volunteered on several other boards including the Planning Board. See www.marr4gilpin.com for more information.

I support Joe Marr 100%.

See you at the Gilpin County Courthouse on November 8th. This is the only in person voting location for Gilpin County. The Community Center will be empty.
