Our biggest planets in the solar system--Jupiter and Saturn--are both visible right now and what a sight they are! Discover interesting facts about these giants at a brief program at the shelter, and then view the sky with telescopes provided by the Longmont Astronomical Society.
Oh Deer, Elk and Moose! Tuesday September 14, 10 a.m .- noon Near Nederland. Exact location provided when registering. Join volunteer naturalists for a moderate two-mile hike to learn about the natural history, behavior, and ecology of mule deer, American elk, and moose. We’ll also look for signs of wildlife along the trail.
Yoga on the Farm Friday September 17, 9 - 10 a.m. Agricultural Heritage Center, 8348 Ute Highway 66, Longmont Join Andrea Van Sambeek (RYT 220) for a gentle yoga class and take in the views from your mat. After the class, stay to explore all the Agricultural Heritage Center has to offer. Please bring your own yoga mat. All levels welcome! Ages 12 and up.
Fun on the Farm Pioneer Life: Experience early 20th century Farm Life Friday September 17, 9:30 – 10:15 a.m.
Agricultural Heritage Center, 8348 Highway 66 Bring your kids, ages 3-6 to the farm to learn about animals, plants, and agricultural life. Programs include a short story time, hands-on activities, and a take-home craft. Afterwards, explore the farm. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Visit the Assay Office Museum Saturday, September 18, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. 6352 Fourmile Canyon Drive, Boulder The James F. Bailey Assay Office Museum, located in the historic town of Wallstreet just west of Boulder, helps tell the story of hard rock mining in this area. The assay office was the place where prospectors would take their ore samples to find out whether they had potentially “struck it rich.” The determination of the assayer could, and often did, make or break a prospector. Play Ball! Vintage Baseball Game Sunday September 26, noon – 3 p.m. Walker Ranch Homestead, 7701 Flagstaff Road, approximately seven miles west of Boulder. Enjoy watching an old-fashioned, vintage baseball game. Join the Walker Ranchers as they challenge players from the Colorado Vintage Base Ball Association in a game played with 19th century rules. Bring your own lawn chairs and blankets for seating. No food will be available on site, so please bring snacks and soft drinks for your household.
