Elisabeth Grove, Nederland. Mbanza is the musical moniker of Boulder Colorado producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Eric SugarSnap Pea. Back in 2011, Eric had full connection with a West African instrument called Kamale N’Goni, and began learning traditional West African rhythms and studying with teacher Craig Meyers.
Mbanza performs with a Live Band, and also Live DJ set with modern & acoustic West African instruments, fused with hiphop/electronic/dub/dance beats produced in Ableton.
Mbanza is opening on the High Peaks Stage at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Chico Coehlo & Dave Ridnell is a unique collaboration of two musicians and composers - one Brazilian and one American. Chico Coelho and Dave Ridnell met in San Francisco in 2010 and have since performed regularly in venues around the San Francisco Bay Area, playing original music inspired by bossa nova, Música Popular Brasileira (MPB), and samba, as well as by American jazz, pop and R&B.
A musician as well as a respected world-class contemporary painter, Chico Coelho hails from the city of Piracicaba, Brazil. Performing for over three decades, Chico’s self-titled cd features some of the finest jazz musicians in Brazil, including Sizão Machado, longtime bass player for legendary Brazilian music star Djavan, and drummer Edu Ribeiro.
New York native Dave Ridnell has been a bandleader and performed for over 20 years in venues throughout the United States, and has also played stages in Europe, Brazil and Japan. He has played live and recorded with members of such legendary funk acts as The Meters, James Brown, and Sly & the Family Stone, as well as with renown jazz artists including the late Melvin Sparks.
Coelho & Ridnell's first full-length CD, recorded at Baxter’s Ranch in Auburn, California with Grammy-winning producer Matt Baxter, will be released in late 2015. This CD will feature horn arrangements by 5 time Grammy nominee Wayne Wallace (trombone) and will also showcases a stellar lineup of highly respected Brazilian and American musicians, including Celso Alberti (drums : Flora Purim & Airto, Steve Winwood), Victor Little (electric bass : Booker T & the MGs, Robert Walter), Mary Fettig (Toninho Horta, San Francisco Symphony, Stan Kenton Orchestra) and Alex Calatayud (pandeiro, percussion). In 2012 Coelho & Ridnell performed and recorded in Brazil. In 2014 Coelho & Ridnell made their New York City debut, performing with Grammy nominee Hendrik Meurkens and Natalie Cressman and sharing a bill with Cory Henry of Snarky Puppy.

The CBDs have recently emerged from a time-space-wormhole, this lost seventies’ party jam band known as the CBDs play a groovin’ mix of the great New American Hippie songbook, putting their own spin on old favorites and originals by the band. They will rock your party without knocking down the walls and guarantee a good time.
The CBDs take the stage on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The Jerryatrix is a Jerry Garcia/dead tribute band featuring Jon Ridnell, Pete Goldberg, Steve Saviano and Dan Smith. The sound is eclectric and will get your feet on the dance floor. They take the stage at 3:30 p.m. to close out the music for the day on Saturday and 2:30 p.m. to close out the music on Sunday.
You don’t often see this kind of talent in a kid at this age. Awesome vocal and guitar covering traditional folk and modern hits this girl will literally bring you to tears with her music. A must see.

Brightwood Allstars is always a group of adults and/ or kids that play any genre of music. This year you can count on Oliver Vernon, Allison Hardt-Zeman, Fiona Higgins and Doug Armitage. Beyond that there are always locals stopping in to play music as part of this ever changing, growing group from intermediate to professional musicians.
