Dear Editor and Peak to Peak Readers,
After a pretty cold winter I know we are all chomping at the bit for spring. The Gilpin County Food Pantry has been there to help folks experiencing food insecurity with nutritious supplemental food.
During the holidays we were fortunate to have many donations given by so many. Both of the Gilpin County political parties made large donations, many of the casinos helped with frozen turkeys, fruit pie, and monetary donations. Peak to Peak Rotary and an anonymous donor provided boxes of personal care products. And you, our generous community made it a great holiday season.
Now it is time to restock our shelves, and we are reaching out again to ask those that are able to help to support a week long food drive that will run from March 17 through March 22.
Items that are always needed are: canned meat, Hamburger Helper, Knorr sides, soup, ramen, tuna, spaghetti sauce, oatmeal, and cereal. Toilet paper and soap are also always appreciated.
We will be accepting donations at the pantry at 101 Norton Drive, Black Hawk. If nobody is there the front door is always open to allow dropping off your donations. It is easy. Just leave it on the table.
I feel confident that between us we can restock our donation shelves. People helping people. It is our amazing volunteers that give 46 + hours a week and you, our generous donors that make the Gilpin County Food Pantry a place for our neighbors to feel comfortable when they need to use our pantry, to make things a little easier.
The Gilpin County Food Pantry is open for shopping Monday 9 - 11 a.m. and Thursday 1:30 - 4 p.m. at 101 Norton Drive, Black Hawk.
Thank you in advance for making this food drive a success.
From a dedicated volunteer.
