Dear Editor,
This was a busy season for Axe & Snax. With help from more than 20 volunteers, including a local Cub Scout troop, our teams cut, split and delivered 25 cords of firewood that will keep 24 Gilpin families warm through the winter.
The Black Hawk Fire Department and a dozen generous landowners donated the wood. We created two processing yards, supported safety training for three sawyers and added two new members to our Board of Directors.
Just this month the Alan Green Memorial Foundation awarded Axe & Snax a generous grant that will help us purchase safety equipment and support additional sawyer training next spring.
Thank you for all for helping us build this much needed resource for our community. Please come out and join us again next season the work is rewarding, and the company is fun!
