Dear Editor,
I suppose it was inevitable, however, sad nonetheless. Hearing the news that Marshal Larry Johns has handed in his resignation to take effect six months from now brought back memories.
Once there were two Larrys. We referred to them as Old Larry (Sterns), Marshal John’s mentor, and young Larry. They were quite a team back in the daze.
I want to say a hearty thank you, Marshal Johns, for saving my kite when it floated off across Barker Reservoir and landed in a tree off the north trail. And, thank you for all the times I locked myself out of my vehicle and you broke into it for me, LOL.
And thank you for always having some water and a few biscuits for the “lost” town doggies that were brought in; and occasionally giving them a ride back home. And, thank you for always, in a quiet way, showing up at some of the bizarre crazy town meetings maintaining a calm watchful presence.
Peaceful and happy transition into your next journey, whatever that may be.
