On Saturday, February 10, at 6 p.m. Whispering Pines Church in Coal Creek Canyon hosted a valentine's banquet. The night was one of excellent food and fellowship.

This was the church's third year hosting the banquet. All attending had praise for the banquet and the hands who prepared it. Christina Bowen commented that the outcome was fantastic, and without the help of Barb and Eric Miller and Bonnie and Jim Taylor, this event would never have been such a huge success.

The fellowship hall of the church was decorated beautifully and child care was provided for the families. The youth of the church helped serve and acted professionally when doing so.

Throughout the night, entertainment and games were also provided. The games were a big hit. The guests competed, by table, in minute-to-win-it and would-you-rather questions which provided interesting conversation starters. Near the end of the night, Pastor Nate Roschen shared one of his trivia games.

Pastor Roschen has a passion for doing things to bless the community. He mentioned that in Genesis 12 God says that he blesses us, and we are then privileged to be a blessing to others. The Valentine's banquet was a way to bless the community. Barb Miller and Bonnie Taylor had similar feelings about the event.

Miller and Taylor put days of planning into the banquet. The tables were decorated with mirrors, flowers, and candles. The meal included flute glasses with pink punch, hors d’oeuvres on a charcuterie board followed by a salad. The main meal was filet mignon, fettuccine noodles in a white sauce, and shrimp garnished with a beautifully cut tomato flower. Finally, dessert came with a plethora of choices of individual cups of mouth-watering delicacies.

Both ladies saw the event as a success and a great outreach to the community to show God’s love and share good food and great fellowship.

Many guests thought the banquet was a great evening out. It was worth driving through the evening's snowstorm to attend the Whispering Pines Valentine’s Banquet.

You’ll certainly want to attend next year! Other great events held by the church can be found on the website at https://whisperingpines.church.
