Dear Editor,
In order to stream live content, ‘Doc’ stated that he needed extremely fast, uploading internet bandwidth. “Usually an internet connection provides for a faster download speed than upload. And unless you are ‘the provider’ of content, you really do not need that faster up-link at home.”
However, as the provider of on-line content such as streaming audio, streaming video, and/or game hosting, your internet speed up to others on the internet cloud must be fast enough for multiple, simultaneous internet download connections. That home internet connection will simply not work. Business class connectivity is necessary.
Up here in our county, there are only two providers that have the capability of providing high-speed uplink internet. One of these, Mountain Broadband out of Coal Creek, said they could provide service, but as it turned out, they cannot provide such a service at this location here in Gilpin. The other provider, USA Cable, said they have a “Business Class,” symmetrical fiber connection available in Gilpin County.
After discussing the possibility with Grady from USA Cable (I think we all know Grady & Barry) it was determined that, “Yes; we can deliver fiber to your building location.” The previous installation would have to be repaired, replaced, or upgraded at my expense however.
So, over a period of time, and several discussions with both Grady and the building manager of the Golden Gate Professional Building, an arrangement was reached to proceed with the installation to the building. “This will allow my tenants truly High-Speed Internet which previously has not been available!” said the building manager.
The install order with USA Cable has been placed and the actual, physical installation has just recently been completed. “I will have the fastest, symmetrical [internet down and up bandwidth speeds that are equally the same] connection of any business location anywhere here in Gilpin County” said Doc. “I am very excited to be able to offer my own online services to our county.”
