On June 11 and 12, 2021, at the Mile High League Meet in Longmont, Colorado, the Gilpin Eagles Varsity Track Team made an assault on the record books. Coach Craig Ball summarized, “We are now starting to compete for the league championship. In Gilpin County, we are lucky to have a school board and administration that puts kids first. For over 50 years Gilpin County Track has tried to compete without the benefit of a track to practice on. Now we have one of the top facilities in the state and we have been taking advantage of our opportunities. We have great athletes here in Gilpin County and when you give these kids a chance to compete, they really shine.”
The Gilpin Eagles Track Team faces West Grand June 18 to wrap up their season before heading to the State Championship June 24–26 at Jefferson County Stadium in Lakewood.
