hartman awardCherokee Blake, Gilpin County. On Saturday, September 13, 2014, Sheriff Bruce Hartman accepted a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition presented by Congressman Ed Perlmutter. A second award from Jefferson County and the Coal Creek Canyon Improvement Association (CCCIA) was presented by Jefferson County Commissioners.

Both awards were presented in recognition of the assistance the Sheriff’s Office provided to the citizens of Coal Creek Canyon and the support they gave to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

The Coal Creek Canyon 1st Anniversary Thank You Event was sponsored by the Jefferson County Commissioners, CCCIA, and Colorado Spirit Flood Recovery Team to recognize all the agencies that came to the aid of the flood victims and to celebrate the resiliency and continued recovery of the residents of Coal Creek Canyon.

Sheriff Hartman expressed his gratitude, stating “We, as Sheriffs, often get the credit but it’s the men and women with their boots on the ground that deserve the credit. These awards belong to those sheriff’s office members who went far above and beyond to help their neighbors in Coal Creek Canyon. I am proud to be their Sheriff and I am truly honored to accept this award on their behalf.”
