Hello friends and neighbors! I wanted to start the police and sheriff reports with a quick bit of info on why you are seeing so many months of reports, at one time.
We request the reports every month. Sometimes it takes a week or more to get the reports sent to us. This year, with new computer systems in two of our local municipalities, it took several weeks to get some of the reports and some of them did not cross over to their new systems and are not available at all.
Add in that all of the reports come in need of a lot of editing (to bring them to AP Style). All of this contributes to police reports backing up. In November and December we published the police reports online, but not in print. This is us publishing the stories in print, as requested by many of our readers.
So here ya go, we are caught up through November at this time. Next week we will start publishing December reports. When the new Nederland Town Marshall starts, we will integrate those reports back into our schedule.
Thanks for your patience as we work with each municipality to get on a regular schedule for all of you!
