Claire is incredibly proud and honored to have been a part of the Gilpin County School community for most of my life.
She has been involved in many school activities including volleyball, theatre, and Interact. Even when she was not a part of a sport, she would make a point to watch and support her friends in basketball, track, and football.
Claire says that Gilpin Schools has given her a wonderful high school experience and she is so pleased to have spent that time with her closest friends. She says, “Being a part of such a small and tightly knit community meant that I have always had the support that has helped me to get where I am today, and I am truly thankful.”
Even though her class’s senior year was cut short and they are not able to celebrate the coming graduation the conventional way, she will cherish the memories she has been able to make at Gilpin. Claire says, “If you are still a student at Gilpin, please value your time at school with your friends because sometimes life will throw you a curveball.”
Next fall, Claire is planning on attending the University of Arizona in Tucson to major in Nursing. She is beyond excited for what her future holds. She knows that her teachers, coaches, and peers at Gilpin have helped to prepare her in the best way possible.

As a student of life and the world around her, Josie plans to continue with her passion for reading. Currently, she finds it impossible to choose one single book, so she is reading a bajillion of them at one time. Her artistic abilities surpass definition, and she is constantly sketching beautiful and imaginative people and places. No doubt, she will spend the rest of her life drawing on her notebooks, restaurant napkins, her dad’s desk calendar, and her own legs.
Josie is exceptionally witty - hilarious, to be exact, but she will never admit to her secret love of dad-jokes. Her own favorite joke to tell is, “Why can’t cows dance? --- Because they lack toes (lactose)!” Then, she will inevitably crack up at herself.
The most significant, influential, and beautiful thing about Josie is her kind heart, her gentle spirit, and her love for the people and animals around her. In fact, they say animals can sense these things, which must be true because there is no other place the family’s grumpy diva cats would rather nap than in Josie’s room while she studies or binge watches “New Girl”.
In Josie’s words, “I would specifically like to thank Ms. Cobb for being an exceptional guidance counselor who has had a tremendous and significant impact on who I am and the decisions I’ve made about my future education; Mr. Schuessler for greatly improving my writing and critical thinking capabilities (two of my favorite things in life); and, of course, Mrs. Newberg. Your class is the one class that will stick with me the most as I exit high school and continue my growth on this path we call life.”
Her family says, “Miss Rose, my tiny niece, continue to let that little light of yours shine no matter the attitude of those around you! I am more proud of you than I could ever express in a Facebook post! Your family ceaselessly adores you!”

Bailey can hardly believe that her 17 years at Gilpin Schools is coming to an end. The ending has come sooner than anyone thought it would. Bailey still feels prepared for her future, thanks to the support from all of the people she have grown up with.
High school has been an amazing experience for Bailey. She will never forget all of the people who have impacted her life at Gilpin. This includes all of the teachers, coaches, and community members. She has loved growing up around such caring, encouraging, and truly genuine people. Bailey says, “You have all instilled confidence and determination in me that has shaped me into who I am today.”
Bailey would like to thank Ms. Donaldson for always believing in her and always being there for her. Bailey says, “I will miss you more than you can ever imagine, because you were so much more to me than a coach or a principal. I will miss all of our jokes about teenage slang. I will miss coming into your office and stealing your candy and bagels. Mostly, I will miss driving with you to West Grand and seeing you every day at school. You’ve impacted my life in so many ways and I can’t thank you enough.”
Bailey would also like to thank all of her teachers. She wishes she could see all of them before the school year finishes. And she wishes she could thank them all in person for all they have done for her. Not only have they made school an enjoyable experience for Bailey, but they have all inspired her to become a teacher herself. Bailey wants teach history and geography, her two favorite subjects taught by one of my favorite teachers, Ms. Gillette.
She so many memories from over the years that she will cherish forever. Bailey will miss all of her friends, teachers, and coaches immensely. Bailey says, “So here’s to Mr. Shoe blowing his air horn during class, to playing google trivia games in study hall, and to getting ready in the bathroom for all of the middle school dances. Thank you everyone for everything you’ve done for me and for making me who I am.”
