High school graduations are a large part of a teenager’s life. It’s also the gateway to another influential chapter in a young person’s life. Meet Zachariah Gebhart, a Gilpin County High School senior.
Zach has been attending Gilpin School since preschool. His earliest and fondest memories of school were playing with Legos in Kindergarten and war reenactments during recess. Zach’s high school memberships include 4-H in the ninth grade and the National Honor Society in the tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades.
Team sports Zach has participated in are football and baseball in the ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades, and basketball and track in the eleventh and twelfth grades. In the ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades, he was also active in theater.
Zach has been working at the Sasquatch Casino since the Summer of 2020 as a cook.
Sports and growing up with his friends are what Zach has loved the most about high school. What has kept Zach academically motivated is the location, the community, his friends, and his involvement in extracurricular activities.
Zach’s favorite classes were science and history. Some of his favorite teachers include Coach Lisa Boulter, Coach Steve Boulter, and Coach Wuchter. He would like to recognize Kaeden LaFone and Trey Lindberg as two of the students who made life better at Gilpin High School.
Zach is passionate about sports, technology, and engineering. With some merit scholarships, the Black Hawk Scholarship, and various other scholarships, Zach plans to attend the Colorado School of Mines next fall and pursue a degree in engineering.
The advice Zach would like to give kids going to Gilpin in the future is “Get involved any way you can with extracurricular activities, it makes the time worth it.” He will miss playing sports.
Zach, congratulations on a job well done!
