Gilpin County High School graduation is around the corner, and many of its seniors are excited to embark on new journeys. One of these students is Alison Antill. One of Alison’s fond memories is the outdoor education classes from elementary school.
Alison has been a cheerleader for four years at Gilpin High. She has also participated in theater in the ninth and tenth grades and has played soccer in the eleventh and twelfth grades.
While in school, Alison worked as a lifeguard at the Gilpin County Community Center and worked at the Central City Opera House. She is also very passionate about dirt biking and traveling.
Alison has loved participating in sports and making connections with other people. She says she will miss seeing her favorite teachers, Mrs. Bayne, Coach Ball, Mrs. Van Hoose, Mrs. Blake, Custodian Russ, and the school secretary Gretchen Sechler.
She will miss making connections with the younger kids, says Alison. Living close to the school, a variety of sports, and her love for Rocky Mountain views have all played a part in Alison’s academic motivation.
Alison would like to acknowledge Skyley Ramsey for being “an amazing person.” Advice Alison would like to offer students at Gilpin School is “Treasure your friends. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Meaning, if you think one person isn’t for you, don’t wait around to find out.”
Alison would like everyone to know that it has been a pleasure to see everyone’s smiles. “And if I don’t see smiles, I make smiles,” she says. After graduation, Alison plans to attend college to earn her teaching degree.
Alison, congratulations on your upcoming graduation from Gilpin High School!
