Superintendent Dr. David MacKenzie talked about how the school has had 82 days of in person learning, with just four small quarantines with no in-school transmissions. He said he has “appreciation to all staff making it happen, everyday”.
Dr. MacKenzie and the Board discussed the budget challenges and possible raises and benefits for staff.
Discussion about the decrease of an estimated 73 students expected for the next few years, by 2026/2027 school year and balancing the budget. The Board approved a resolution to reserve monies to guarantee salaries and other expenses will be paid, even if Black Hawk tax revenue has shortfalls again.
Staff wanting the Covid vaccine will be receiving the second dose on March 11, 2021.
Dr. MacKenzie wants to invite all remote students back to in-person classes after Spring Break, if they feel safe coming back.
Dr. MacKenzie said consideration for next year’s learning plans will likely not have remote learning as an option. Starting in August, CDLS and in-person will be offered. Should there be any quarantines, those involved will have remote learning for a short time only.
