Gilpin County artist Danea Fidler will be exhibiting her drawings and paintings at the Gilpin County Library in a show titled, “Creatures Among Stories.” The show opens August 27, and runs through October 15.
Danea draws upon the science and observation of the natural world around her to create believable, imaginary creatures that reside in worlds among stories. Her art varies in both traditional and digital media from creature design to traditional wildlife painting and scientific illustration.
Her most recent work includes creature illustrations for the novel, The Starless Crown, by New York Times best selling author James Rollins. These illustrations take the reader on various encounters with dangerous creatures while on a journey with a group of outcasts. These illustrations are in a field-journal like style, as if the creatures were drawn from life in the moment.
“Creatures Among Stories” will exhibit drawings from The Starless Crown, as well as other creatures from other worlds and stories. We hope that you come by and take a journey through fantastic worlds and stories where creatures beyond this world reside.
