Gilpin High School Senior: Matt Marr

Posted

Matt Marr only knows Gilpin County Schools. He has been attending Gilpin schools since he was a little guy in preschool. Now he is soon to walk across the stage and receive the graduation diploma that he has earned.

Matt says that his fondest memories from elementary school involve recess time. He and his friends played a lot of games, mostly football. Through every kind of weather that comes to the mountains, the kids are outside playing. Playing on the Gilpin School playground with his friends is a memory that stays with Matt.

While in high school Matt played football for the Eagles as a freshman, he played baseball as a junior and senior and basketball all four years. He loves hanging out with his friends and learning things that will help him in the future.

Matt enjoyed taking history, anatomy, business, and especially physical education classes while at Gilpin High School. The teacher he most enjoyed working with was Mr. Wuchter.

When Matt graduates he says that he will miss the teachers who had a positive impact on his life and he will miss his friends. He says that Jimmy Immordino is one of those friends who always made him laugh and has made his life better.

Matt believes in working hard. Working hard to earn money and for his future. Outside of school he works with his grandpa and also with Grapes and Sons Excavating. After graduating from Gilpin High School Matt will be going into the workforce.

When asked if he has any advice for younger students Matt says, “Work hard and get your classes done early so your life is easier your junior and senior years.”

Congratulations Matt on your graduation from Gilpin County High School. We wish you all the best in the future!
