As a new school year starts, a new season for athletes officially starts as well. After practicing all summer the girls’ volleyball team at Gilpin County High School have started their season. With 23 games set for the season all the girls are working hard to make it to the championship. The season is currently set to end in October but could be extended if they do make it into the championship. Already having played in three games the girls have won all three and have themselves on the path to be a part of the championship games.

They will be going to their first in-season tournament on September 1 and 2. Their next home game will be September 14 which anyone is welcome to attend. Adult tickets are $7, $5 for seniors and free entrance for students of Gilpin County School. Students often come dressed based on themes like tourists as a way to show school pride and support for the sports.

The girls’ volleyball team is one of three sports teams at Gilpin County High School meant for just the female identifying students. A girls’ soccer team during the spring and a girls’ basketball team during the late fall and winter are the other two. Everyone is very excited for the girls this year and hope this will be the year they’ll make it to championships and win.

You can find the entire athletic schedule for all Gilpin Sports at https:// gilpin.k12.co.us/en-US/calendar. The next home game is on September 14 at 4:15 p.m.
