Emily Pleier, Gilpin County.   Saturday, December 8, 2018 was one of the Gilpin wrestlers’ largest tournaments. The tournament had almost 26 schools and an extraordinary amount of competition, but the Gilpin wrestlers were ready to go. To start off the day, Triston DiPasquale had a quick win against West Hart, from Peyton High School.

Kamron Brewer’s biggest high school tournament yet showed promise for his future years with the Gilpin team. He ended with two wins in 15 man brackets, his first win against Iley Tuttle, from Peyton High School and his second against Kellen Kappel, from Limon High School. The freshman aspires to bring in many more wins for the team this season.

Finally, Mike Wenholz brought in three wins. With matches against Jasson Gonzalez from Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind, Dale Drew from Calhan High School, and Jonathan Burbank from County Line High School.

The third-year high school wrestler continues to bring in wins for the team.
Overall, the tournament brought home multiple wins for the team, and the boys are back in practice getting ready for this week’s home Tri-meet against Middle Park and Estes Park on Wednesday, Dec. 12, along with the Dec. 15 tournament in Sheridan, Colorado.
