Gilpin girls' gather two wins

Barbara Lawlor, Gilpin County.  In the past week, the Gilpin High School Eagles girls’ basketball team played three games and won two of them bringing them to a 9-9 record on the season.

 

They played Denver Christian on Tuesday, February 6, and suffered a 42-18 loss. Cicely Lepro was high scorer with nine points and Lena Warren fought for five rebounds.

 

 

Individual Statistics:

Aspen Nadeau: 4 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 4 steals

Lena Warren: 5 rebounds

Cicely Lepro: 9 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 5 steals

Katelyn Armstrong: 5 rebounds, 1 steal

Trystin Swan: 2 points, 1 rebound

Samantha Smith: 1 rebound, 1 assist, 3 steals

Alicia Johnson: 1 rebound, 2 steals

Joyce Jewell: 1 rebound

Nicole Adams: 3 rebounds

Carly Johnson: 3 points

 

On Friday, February 9, 2018, the Eagles were victorious against the Twin Peaks Charter Academy Timberwolves winning 38-23. Cicely Lepro scored 14 points and had nine steals. Aspen Nadeau played a hard, aggressive game, coming up with five rebounds, two assists and two steals.

The Eagles’ second win was on Monday, February 12, 2018, a home game against the Front Range Christian Falcons, 21-13. It was the last home game of the season and Gilpin will head into playoff tournaments.
