At the end of the first quart, the game was tied at 8 points. The Mustangs jogged away in the second quarter, scoring twice to Gilpin’s six-point touchdown and heading to the lockers with an 8-point lead, 22-14.

But Gilpin wasn’t done. They scored two touchdowns in the third quarter to the Mustang’s one, but gave up two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to their own six-point touchdown. They are now 3-1.

The Eagles’ next game will be an away game at Nederland High School for a mountain rivalry game at 1 p.m. Nederland is now 1-2.

Coach Dave Ball said, “We dropped a tough one against West Grand on Friday night up in Kremmling. We fought back during the game, scored five touclhdowns and had a chance to win in the end. Hats off to West Grand and their coaches. They had their team ready to play. Football requires a focus on the future and we are now preparing for our game with Nederland. Our Gilpin football players are exceptional. I can’t wait for our next contest.”
