Gilpin Food Pantry still needs help

Posted

Dear Editor,

After volunteering for the Gilpin County Food Pantry for almost two decades I have gotten to see first hand what a generous community I live in. When there was a need during the holidays 2022, you responded with overwhelming generosity. It made many of our neighbors’ holidays brighter.

I am writing now because donations have really fallen off. And food insecurity is on the rise. And it is possible that it is the family next door. So if you’re able, maybe next time you are at the store, get just a little extra and drop it by the food pantry. The front door is always open, you can bring your donation in and leave it in the wagon. Some items we could use are: peanut butter, jelly, tuna, condiments, hearty soup, noodle bowls, etc. There is always a need for toilet paper, toothbrushes, and toothpaste.

I want to thank everyone in advance for their contribution whether small or large, everything means a lot. I would also like to thank Rudi’s bakery for supplying us with fresh bread weekly and The Colorado Pet Pantry, which keeps our Gilpin pets happy.

And a great big thanks to the volunteers that help keep the doors open and the Gilpin County Human Service staff that work so hard to keep it all running.

Be well. Be safe. Enjoy Springtime in the Rockies.
