On 2/1/21, a Gilpin County deputy contacted a vehicle at mile marker 9.5 on Highway 119 for no registration. It was determined that the vehicle was never registered or insured after being purchased. The driver had a cancelled driver’s license and a warrant for her arrest. Due to Covid restrictions, no arrest was made; however, the driver was issued a summons to appear in court.
On 2/1/21, a Gilpin County deputy took a phone report of a possible stalking/ harassment issue.
On 2/1/21, a Gilpin County deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on south Highway 119. The driver led the deputy on a short vehicle pursuit, before the pursuit was discontinued for public safety concerns.
On 2/2/21, a Gilpin County deputy conducted a welfare check on a male party at mile marker 7.1 on the Central City Parkway. The license plates on the vehicle the male party was driving were determined to be fictitious and were seized. The male party was given a courtesy ride to a McDonald’s in Idaho Springs and a report was taken.
On 2/2/21, a Gilpin County deputy responded to Highway 119 and Blue Spruce Road, on the report of a single vehicle crash into the mountain. One male driver was later arrested for DUI by Colorado State Patrol at over four times the legal limit.
On 2/3/21, a Gilpin County deputy was dispatched to contact a party regarding a hit and run accident which occurred on 1/31/21. The hit and run had taken place in the Century Casino Parking Garage. After an investigation, a suspect was located and issued a criminal summons.
On 2/3/21, Colorado State Patrol, Black Hawk Police and Gilpin deputies responded to the Coyote Motel, on the report of an in-progress disturbance. One male party was cited for disorderly conduct.
On 2/4/21, a Gilpin County deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the Central City Parkway. The vehicle failed to yield and pullover for the deputy. The vehicle eventually pulled over and all four parties inside the vehicle were uncooperative. The Gilpin Sheriff’s Department, Colorado Division of Gaming and Clear Creek Sheriff conducted a high risk traffic stop to remove the occupants from the vehicle. Three passengers were intoxicated and belligerent and the driver presented fraudulent identification. The driver was issued a summons for several charges and the vehicle was impounded.
On 2/5/21, a Gilpin County deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop in Central City. The driver led the deputy on a high speed pursuit through Central City and down the Central City Parkway at upward speeds of 90 mph. Pursuit immobilization techniques were attempted, but were unsuccessful. The pursuit continued westbound on I-70 and through Idaho Springs with the assistance of Clear Creek County Sheriff. The vehicle continued eastbound on I-70, onto Highway 6 and onto Highway 40. The pursuit was discontinued for public safety concerns. Case is under investigation.
On 2/5/21, a Gilpin County deputy was dispatched to the 1400 block of Coyote Circle on the report of an assault and statement of a party going to kill themself. The party was detained and transported to the hospital for an emergency mental health evaluation.
On 2/6/21, a Gilpin County deputy received radio traffic from dispatch of a REDDI (Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately) a Gray Mercedes Benz SUV with snow on the back window, driving southbound on Highway 119 at mile marker 8.5. Dispatch further advised the SUV was weaving and crossing over the center dividing line into on-coming traffic. A deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop but was unsuccessful. Later the driver was arrested and booked into a jail. A report was completed.
On 2/7/21, a Gilpin County deputy contacted a party regarding an alleged violation of protection order which occurred near the intersection of La Chula Road and Rocky Ridge Road. A report was taken.
On 2/7/21, a Gilpin County deputy responded to the Century Casino for found drugs. A suspect could not be identified.
On 2/7/21, a Gilpin County deputy was working DUI enforcement and observed a vehicle with expired plates within Gilpin County. The driver was contacted and a summons was issued.
On 2/8/21, a Gilpin County deputy stopped a vehicle in Central City for the license plate not being properly affixed to the vehicle. The driver was issued a summons.
On 2/9/21, a Gilpin County deputy conducted a traffic stop on the Central City Parkway. The driver was issued a summons for driving on a suspended license and no insurance.
On 2/9/21, a Gilpin County deputy saw a vehicle on the Central City Parkway with an unreadable temporary tag. The vehicle quickly drove away from the deputy and was later located in the Grand Z Parking Garage. The occupant of the vehicle had warrants and resisted arrest. The occupant was booked into the Gilpin County Jail.
On 2/9/21, a Gilpin County deputy was dispatched to an unconscious party in a vehicle at approximately 700 block of Wedgwood Road. The deputy was further advised the vehicle was parked in the middle of the road. The person was later arrested for DUI and issued a summons and released. A report was completed.
On 2/10/21, a Gilpin County deputy conducted a traffic stop in Black Hawk. The driver was issued a summons for driving on a suspended license.
On 2/11/21, a Gilpin County deputy was dispatched to an ongoing barking dog complaint in the 300 block of Spring Street. A summons was issued and a report was later completed.
On 2/11/21, a Gilpin County deputy received a report from another county about a child welfare issue. The deputy completed a report for the incident.
On 2/11/21, a Gilpin County deputy was dispatched to a crash in Central City. It was later determined that there was no damage to either vehicle. The owner of one of the vehicles could not be located and a tow was requested. While preparing to tow the vehicle, it was determined that the vehicle was stolen. A suspect was identified and a report was completed. The case was forwarded to the Investigations Division for review and filing of charges.
On 2/11/21, a Gilpin County deputy was conducting stationary traffic enforcement in a marked patrol vehicle at the intersection of Spring Street and Gregory Street. A traffic state was completed for failing to stop at the stop sign on Spring Street and a report was completed.
On 2/12/21, Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Century Casino on the report of a male party attempting to pass a fraudulent $100 bill. Upon the deputies arrival, the male party fled the casino in a vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted on the Central City Parkway where the male party presented fraudulent identification. The male party was identified through a fingerprint reader and was later issued a summons for criminal possession of an identification document and second forgery.
On 2/12/21, a Gilpin County deputy conducted a traffic stop on the Central City Parkway as part of an investigation into a crime which had occurred at a casino. The driver was issued a summons for driving while license under restraint, no insurance and operated an unregistered vehicle.
On 2/13/21, a Gilpin County deputy responded to a welfare check at the Gold Mountain Village Apartments. Contact was made with the party, who reported a harassment incident that occurred earlier. Based on the investigation, there was lack of evidence that anything criminal had occurred. A report was completed.
On 2/14/21, a Gilpin County deputy was advised by dispatch of a disturbance in progress involving a knife at Dostal Alley. Later, the suspect was arrested and charged accordingly. A report was completed.
On 2/14/21, a Gilpin County deputy conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of Gregory Street. The driver was found to be driving while their Colorado driver’s license was suspended. A summons was issued.
On 2/15/21, a Gilpin County deputy was dispatched to assist Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office on a vehicle pursuit near mile marker 243 on Interstate 70.
On 2/16/21, a Gilpin County deputy contacted an occupied vehicle in the Grand Z parking garage located at 321 Gregory Street. Three of the vehicle`s occupants were found to have multiple warrants, the license plate was reported as “missing” by the Wheat Ridge Police Department and the vehicle was suspected in a hit and run in Denver on 8/15/20. The occupants were not arrested due to the Gilpin County Sheriff`s Office Covid-19 arrest policy. The license plate was confiscated and booked into evidence. The vehicle was released because the Denver Police Department would only impound the vehicle if it was in Denver.
On 2/16/21, a Gilpin County deputy took a report of a vehicle break-in at Gold Mountain Village Apartments. A case report was later completed.
On 2/16/21, a Gilpin County deputy received a report of Unemployment Fraud. The reporting person was contacted and provided with a case report number documenting the incident.
On 2/16/21, a Gilpin County deputy responded to a R.E.D.D.I. (Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately) from a concerned citizen. The deputy located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in Black Hawk. The driver was later arrested for DUI. Black Hawk PD assisted with the arrest.
On 2/18/21, a Gilpin County deputy was dispatched to a report of found drug paraphernalia. The deputy took possession of the paraphernalia for destruction and gave the suspect a warning for the violation.
On 2/18/21, a Gilpin County deputy conducted a traffic stop on south Highway 119. The driver was intoxicated and attempted to resist arrest, but was not successful. The male party was arrested for DUI and drove a vehicle when license revoked as a habitual offender. A female party was later arrested for criminal impersonation and violation of a protection order.
On 2/19/21, a Gilpin County deputy attempted to stop a vehicle going the wrong way on a one-way street in the 200 block of Lawrence Street. The suspect vehicle fled and the deputy discontinued his pursuit for the safety of the community. A case report was later completed.
On 2/20/21, a Gilpin County deputy was dispatched to a cold motor vehicle theft that could be handled by phone. A report was completed.
On 2/21/21, a Gilpin County deputy conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of Lawrence Street. The driver’s Colorado driver’s license was found to be suspended. A summons was issued, and a case report was later completed.
On 2/22/21, a Gilpin County deputy stopped a vehicle for having no visible registration attached.The driver was issued a summons and the vehicle was parked until a licensed driver could pick it up.
On 2/22/21, a Gilpin County deputy was dispatched to a possible stolen vehicle in the 2900 block of Dory Hill Road. The vehicle was located, and the driver arrested. A case report was completed.
On 2/22/21, a Gilpin County deputy took a report of a broken window at the Gilpin County School. A report was taken, and the case closed.
On 2/23/21, a Gilpin County deputy was stationary at approximately mile marker 5.7 Highway 119 facing southbound. When the deputy observed a vehicle with no headlights on. A traffic stop was conducted, and the person was later arrested and released for DUI.
On 2/23/21, a Gilpin County deputy stopped a vehicle for displaying a fictitious number plate. The driver of the vehicle did not have a valid driver’s license and was arrested on multiple warrants.
On 2/23/21, a Gilpin County deputy contacted a male party slumped over the steering wheel of his truck while parked on a roadway. The driver was determined to be under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol content over a .400. The driver was transported to the hospital and charged with a DUI.
On 2/24/21, a Gilpin County deputy conducted a traffic stop on south Highway 119. The driver was issued a penalty assessment for an illegal pass.
On 2/24/21, an off-duty Gilpin deputy spotted a single vehicle rollover crash on Highway 119 at approximately mile marker 14.3. Another deputy, Timberline Fire, Gilpin Ambulance and Colorado State Patrol responded to assist. One male driver was transported to the hospital and was suspected to be driving under the influence.
On 2/24/21, a Gilpin County deputy took a report of a debit card being stolen while the party was staying at a hotel in Central City. The debit card was used for several transactions, including transactions at area casinos. The case is under investigation.
On 2/25/21, a Gilpin County deputy was dispatched to a property damage accident on Main Street and Nevada Street. A citation was issued, and the case report was later completed.
On 2/25/21, Gilpin County deputies were dispatched to a physical altercation. Upon arrival, one of the involved parties had already left the scene. During the investigation it was determined that one party had two active protection orders against the other party. A deputy applied for an arrest warrant for the restrained party on the protection order.
On 2/26/21, a Gilpin County deputy was dispatched to a residence on a welfare check. The reporting party was a roommate and had not had contact with his roommate in over a day. The deputy made entry into the roommates room after making several attempts to contact the party. The party was found deceased. The Gilpin County Coroner took possession of the deceased party and a report was completed.
On 2/26/21, a Gilpin County deputy responded to the 200 block of Casey Street on the report of a missing party. A missing person’s report was taken.
On 2/27/21, a Gilpin County deputy recovered a stolen vehicle.
On 2/27/21, a Gilpin County deputy was traveling northbound on Nevada Street when they observed a vehicle with no rear license plate. The driver did not have a valid driver’s license and was cited. The passenger had warrants but could not be arrested due to Covid restrictions.
On 2/27/21, a Gilpin County deputy was conducting stationary traffic enforcement in their marked patrol vehicle at mile marker 4.5 Highway 119 when the deputy observed a Blue Nissan Rouge traveling southbound with no headlights on. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was later arrested for outstanding warrants and a local charge.
On 2/28/21, a Gilpin County deputy was asked to respond to the Century Casino for the report of a wallet theft. A suspect could not be identified.
On 2/28/21, a party arrived at the Gilpin County Sheriff's Office lobby for visitation. A deputy found that the party’s driver license was canceled/denied. A proof of service was issued for a canceled/denied driver’s license.
