Gilpin County Sheriff’s Report, September 2020

On 9/1/20, at approximately 9 a.m. hours, a Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office deputy was contacted by a member of the Gilpin County Public Works who reported receiving two fraudulent U.S. Bank Reliacard.  An incident report was generated for tracing purposes. 

On 9/1/20 at approximately 5:17 p.m., a deputy responded to Creekwood Trail in Black Hawk on the report of a harassment / menacing.  The reporting party stated his neighbor had confronted him and his partner with an aluminum bat.

 

On 9/2/20, a deputy was notified of a new warrant for an in-custody inmate. The inmate was booked into the jail without incident.

On 9/2/20, at approximately 2 p.m., a deputy took a report of a mail theft. A report was completed for the incident. 

On 9/3/20, a deputy took a theft report.  The reporting party later found the missing item. 

On 9/3/20, at approximately 1:50 a.m., a deputy received a report of a party who had received explosives from a family member and wanted the explosives properly disposed of. The deputy coordinated with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad who later responded to the address and took possession of the explosives. 

On 9/4/20, a deputy responded to the Grand Z Casino on a counterfeit bill. The bill was recovered and will be forwarded to secret service.  

On 9/4/20, at approximately 9:54 p.m., deputies responded to the Century Casino parking garage on the report of an assault. A female party was later arrested who was involved in the incident.  

On 9/5/20, a deputy towed an abandoned trailer which had been red tagged on 8/24/20.  Tow sheet completed.

On 9/5/20, at approximately 7:11 p.m., a deputy damaged a patrol vehicle while clearing from a call located on the 100 block of Prize Mine Road, Central City. The damages were documented in a report.

On 9/5/20, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on south Highway 119. The driver was issued a summons. 

On 9/6/20, a deputy conducted a traffic stop. A ticket and proof of service was issued.  A report was completed.  

On 9/6/20, a deputy was flagged down by a citizen for a motor vehicle accident that occurred in the driveway of 67 Muskrat Road in Gilpin County. A Colorado State Patrol Trooper later responded to investigate the motor vehicle accident. The driver was subsequently arrested for DUI.

On 9/6/20, a deputy contacted a party on Rollins Pass Road with a small campfire. The fire was extinguished, and the party was cleared, the party was found to have a cancelled driver’s license. A proof of service was issued and a warning for the campfire. No further action taken.

On 9/7/20, a deputy conducted a traffic stop. A ticket was issued, and a report was completed.  

On 9/7/20, a deputy was dispatched into the backcountry on a motorist assist. The vehicle was out of gas. Gas was obtained for parties and vehicle jump started. Parties were led out of the backcountry, no further action taken.

On 9/7/20, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on Highway 119. The driver was issued a summons for reckless driving. 

On 9/8/20, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on south Highway 119. The driver was issued a summons. 

On 9/8/20, The Gilpin County Sheriff`s Office dispatched a deputy along with the Central City Fire Department and Gilpin County Ambulance Service to 691 Lake Gulch Road, Central City, on a small fire.  A case report was completed.  

On 9/8/20, at approximately 7:38 p.m., a deputy contacted a male party in the Sheriff’s Office lobby and a report was taken.

On 9/8/20, at approximately 10:50 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to the intersection of Pine Street and Bourion Street, Central City, on a report of a Motor Vehicle Accident. A case report was completed.  

On 9/12/20, a deputy responded to a traffic complaint reported by a concerned driver. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was arrested for DUI.

On 9/12/20, a deputy responded to a call of a person trespassing on private property. A report was completed.  

On 9/12/20, at approximately 2:30 p.m., a deputy responded to the 400 block of Eureka Street in Central City, for a report of a theft. A case report was later completed.

On 9/12/20, at 3 p.m., a deputy responded to the 3200 block of Smith Hill Road on a criminal mischief call. Investigation disclosed that an unknown person(s) broke two windows out of a parked vehicle. A report was taken. 

On 9/13/20, a deputy responded to the Century Casino on a report of damage to property. A report was completed.   

On 9/13/20, a deputy received a report of a cold domestic violence and felony menacing. The case was forwarded to investigations. 

On 9/15/20, a deputy was told there was a male party in the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office who wanted to turn himself in on a warrant. This male party was contacted and booked into the jail without incident.  

On 9/16/20, at approximately 1:30 p.m., a deputy responded to a residence on a welfare check of a party that was requested by a family living out of state. The deputy later found the party at the residence deceased. The Gilpin County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene and conducted a death investigation. The Coroner’s Office took possession of the deceased party and notified family members.

On 9/16/20, at approximately 1:30 p.m., a resident turned over several pieces of found property and efforts were begun to return them to the owner.  

On 9/17/20, at approximately 11a.m., located at the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office Impound lot, a Sheriff’s Office employee found two small smoking pipes (drug paraphernalia). Items were seized for destruction.

On 9/18/20, a deputy responded to a call for a theft. A report was completed.   

On 9/18/20, at approximately 8:55 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to call a party reference damage to their property and items that were stolen. The deputy completed a report for the incident.

On 9/19/20, a deputy responded to the area of mile marker 1.4 Highway 119 on a report of a welfare check. A report was completed. 

On 9/19/20, at approximately 8a.m., a deputy found a license plate at mile marker 2.5 on Highway 119 in unincorporated Gilpin County. The license plate was logged into evidence for safe keeping and the deputy attempted to contact the owner. 

On 9/19/20, a deputy took a report on a criminal mischief. A report was completed. 

On 9/19/20, at approximately 10:45 a.m., a deputy contacted illegal campers in the 600 block of Lake Gulch Road in Central City. A case report was later completed. 

On 9/19/20, at approximately 6:47 p.m., a deputy towed an abandoned vehicle located near the intersection of S. Beaver Rd and Highway 119, Black Hawk. A report was taken. 

On 9/20/20, a deputy observed a suspicious vehicle on Highway 119. A male party was later issued a summons for violation of a protection order. 

On 9/20/20, at approximately 10:20 a.m., a deputy took a report of possible criminal mischief in the 200 block of Hacker Drive in unincorporated Gilpin County.

On 9/20/20, at approximately 4:50 p.m., a deputy took a phone call for a suspicious event. A report was completed.   

On 9/20/20, at approximately 8:27 p.m., a deputy responded to the approximate 100 block of Nevada St, Central City, to speak with a party regarding a suspicious event. A report was taken. 

On 9/21/20, a deputy was dispatched to a report of a hit and run that occurred at the Grand Z Casino. The driver was located and issued a summons. A report was later completed. 

On 9/21/20, a deputy responded to the report of an intoxicated driver in the area of Highway 46 and Highway 119. The deputy was able to locate the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was later arrested for felony DUI.

On 9/22/20, at approximately 10:30 a.m., a Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office deputy was in the process of conducting a search in which the deputy took off a rear door to an OHV and while doing so, damaged the window.

On 9/23/20, at approximately 12:11 a.m., a deputy conducted a traffic stop near mile marker 3.5 on Highway 119, Black Hawk. The driver was issued a summons and a report was taken. 

On 9/24/20, at approximately 8:15 a.m., a deputy performed a traffic stop at mile marker 11.5 Highway 119 in unincorporated Gilpin County. The driver was issued a summons. 

On 9/24/20, at approximately 11:30 a.m., a deputy took a report of a motorcycle hitting a pedestrian at the intersection of Hacker Driver and Highway 119 in unincorporated Gilpin County.

On 9/24/20, a deputy took a report of a phone scam from a resident.

On 9/24/20, at approximately 12 p.m., a Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office deputy was contacted by a citizen who turned in a found wallet. The owner of the wallet was contacted. 

On 9/24/20, at approximately 2:36 p.m., located at the Gilpin County Sheriff`s Office, 2960 Dory Hill Road, Black Hawk, unincorporated Gilpin County, a resident turned over found property. The property was placed into evidence for safe keeping. 

On 9/24/20, a driver crashed their vehicle at the entrance to the Gold Mountain Village Apartments in Central City. An accident investigation was completed.  

On 9/25/20, at approximately 10:30 a.m., a deputy found an abandoned vehicle at the intersection of Hooper Street and Virginia Canyon Road in Central City. A case report was later completed.

On 9/25/20, at approximately 10:40 a.m., deputies responded to the 300 block of East 1st High Street for a reported disturbance/possible assault.

On 9/26/20, at approximately 12:40 a.m., a deputy located an active warrant for an inmate while performing his duties within the jail. The male party was booked into the Gilpin County Jail on the warrant. 

On 9/26/20, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on the Central City Parkway for a traffic violation. The driver was later arrested for DUI. 

On 9/26/20, a deputy conducted a traffic stop. A summons was issued and a report was completed.   

On 9/26/20, at approximately 10 a.m., an investigator was called to assist the Colorado State Patrol with the drug influence evaluation of a party arrested for suspicion of Driving Under the Influence. End of report.

On 9/26/20, a deputy responded to a call of a theft. A report was completed.   

On 9/27/20, at approximately 3:40 p.m., a deputy took a report of trespassing and theft in the 200 block of Rocky Ridge Road in unincorporated Gilpin County. A summons was issued.

On 9/27/20, at approximately 7 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 100 block of Conestoga Road on the report of Off Highway Vehicles on county roads. A summons was issued and a report taken.  

On 9/28/20, at approximately 9:30 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to 190 Russell Gulch Road on a report of a disturbance which occurred on Saturday, 9/26/20. A case report was completed. 

On 9/28/20, a School Resource Officer responded to a report of two intoxicated parties. The parties were issued summons and a report was completed. 

On 9/28/20, at approximately 11:12 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the Grand Z Casino located at 321 Gregory St, Central City, on the report of a theft. A report was taken.

On 9/29/20, at approximately 9:45 a.m., a deputy took a report of a stolen vehicle. The deputy completed a case report for the incident and the vehicle was entered into NCIC/CCIC as stolen. 

On 9/30/20, a deputy completed a certified VIN inspection for a resident.  

On 9/30/20, at approximately 12:15 p.m., a deputy took a report of a vehicle parked along Highway 119 that was broken into. The deputy completed a case report for the incident.

On 9/30/20, at approximately 1:33 p.m., a deputy took a report of a lost debit card at the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office. A case report was completed.
